Hap Jones and Bernie Nicholson

May 1, 2012

A local friend went digging  through the dumpsters when the Hap Jones shop closed (a long time ago now).  Among other things, he pulled out this cardboard box, with the word Hap written on the corner.

More info on Bernie here.  Buy the book if you don’t already have a copy.

Got my copy direct from Bernie – at his warehouse – in Calgary, way back when. It was pretty much the last of his last edition.

Like Lee above I got my book from Bernie Nicholson in Calgary after making an appointment. Before sellig it to me, he eyed the book critically, bent it open and stated that since the binding wasn’t quite perfect he would knock a couple of dollars off the price. I couldn’t see any problem with the book and of course I still have it. An old school business gentleman.

I love his “rant” in the book against choppers.

That’s great Jim. It is a great book, and should give you plenty to read and think about. The last edition is 766 pages of motorcycle goodness. Tell Greg (who now publishes the book) that you are a Velocette guy.
