Kiehl’s ride
Last week we were pleased to attend the 1st annual Kiehl’s ride. It is always fun to ride a vintage bike around the Marin Headlands with old and new friends, and everybody knows that I love to get a free sandwich and soda!
Kiehl’s president Chris Salgardo organized the run to bring attention to a local SF charity: the Homeless Prenatal Program. His goal was more than just to bring them attention, he also presented them with a check for $10,000.
I learned a bit about Kiehl’s that day. While we are familiar with the company as one of the sponsors of the Legends of the Motorcycle shows, I had thought it to be another make-up store. But it turns out that the majority of their customers are men, not women. Every one of their shops has at least one old motorbike in the store, that’s nice. And they don’t sell make-up, but instead carry very good skin care products such as shave cream, lotion, sunscreen, soaps and lip balms. Chris and his team was kind enough to give all the bike riders a goody bag filled with stuff in addition to that free lunch I mentioned earlier. So now us grizzled old bikers have no excuses for our rough and ready looks.

I’ll buy a beer for the first reader who can identify this rider. The bike and gear were borrowed, but the shoes might reveal his identity.
