Stolen 19teens Motorcycles
Three early bikes were stolen from Richard Morris in Southern California 12/30/10:
1916 Reading Standard V twin
1916 Henderson 4 cylinder
1920 Excelsior twin
Richard is a friend of OL, and an avid motorbike enthusiast. If you have any information, please email me via the “Comments” link below. Please re-post this article, link to it, or email this information to anybody that you think may be able to help.
The bikes were freshly restored, and Richard didn’t yet have photos of the Reading or the Excelsior. The RS has all the goodies like acetylene lights, speedometer, etc. The Excelsior was just painted in green like the 1919 models, but the motor was not yet put into the X chassis.
The 1916 Henderson, serial #6120:
Here are some photos of Richard’s 1923 Reading Standard from last year’s Atascadero Tour. The 1916 model is similar, but with new paint and plating.
OUCH!
Any chance the serial number s could be circulated?

I’m waiting for Richard to send them to me. I’ll update the article asap.
I posted stolen listings for the motorcycles at my website stolen911.com. Sorry about his loss. I’ll forward any info we get. If you get the serial numbers, police report #’s, contact numbers, etc, I can post those too. Good luck.

thank you Marc.
I’ll certainly keep my eyes open for them. Stuff like this makes me sick to read about it. Happens way too much! I hope 2011 is better to Mr. Morris.
I say get info to the Antique Motorcycle Club of America because the magazine is an international voice. I just lost some pre 1973 bikes from a container in the desert so now I have a new lifetime hobby of looking for them. Only took 10 years to get Osama. Peace, Paul Venne
