Organize a ride for classic bikes

November 21, 2010

1917 RS

Now that we are nearing the end of 2010, our thoughts naturally tend to gravitate towards planning for the coming year.  Bike clubs are putting together their 2011 calendars listing all the good rides, shows, swap meets/jumbles, club meetings, etc.  Readers of this website are hard at work, planning an event, or maybe a workshop project or a trip to see some good roads and good friends.

I want to ask each reader to do something for the rest of us, for yourself, and for the hobby of ours:  Organize a ride in 2011 in your hometown.  It isn’t hard, you don’t need to spend much time or effort on it, but it will make you happy and many other folks too.  Just pick a date, a start/finish location and a route, then spread the word.  It can be just that simple.  Not every ride needs T shirts or trophies or banquet dinners.  Just meet & greet & ride.

Send me the info, and I’ll put up an article to spread the word of your ride.

    Right on!
For years we use to pick a hotel and an area and get Vincent owners together.
    Some would come 900 miles,others wouldn’t come 90 miles.
What fun is to have them if you don’t play with them?

With the way things are these days, Motorcycles (other than family) is all that is keeping me sane. The moto-events are great, because people of various backgrounds come together and unite together and enjoy each other company (like I wish the whole world could do) the Motorycles themselves, by nature, and thier unique physics are exciting and intriguing. I find motorcycles filling many capacities; they are my main transportation to work, they provide inspiration, they are my creative outlet, and they consume all disposable income. I am very happy motorcycles are a big part of my life
    Happy Thanksgiving
