61 Miles in one hour by THE INDIAN, 1908

I’ve been too busy prepping the bikes for the Rigid Ride and the Cannonball to write much lately.  I’ll post more How To stuff soon, but for now this is a cool cover from an old magazine.  The content about the Indian racer is good, but what I really like is the winged wheel graphics.

 

1908 Indian

Stanley T Kellogg was an Indian racer from Bridgeport, Connecticut although race results over the years show him competing on a few different brands of bikes.  By 1917 he was a local distributor for Excelsior.  There is more to his story I’m sure, but for now I’ll just add this article from the NYT, May 31, 1906 Edition with details about Kellogg and Oscar Hedstrom of Indian:
